Mobile County, Alabama Probate Judge Don Davis Orders Enumeration of Semmes

This website was created back in 2007, for the primary purpose
of organizing our Semmes Community to fight
against Hopkinton Estates - a subdivision/neighborhood
that we felt would have negatively impacted our Community.

The "savesemmes" name was chosen because we knew that
eventually, we also wanted to utilize the website to communicate
with the community on the idea of incorporating and
becoming our own city.  We needed to "SAVE SEMMES".
We realized, in the process of opposing the approval of
Hopkinton Estates at the City of Mobile's Planning Commission
meetings for 5 months, that the only
way we could control our destiny and have a voice in our
community, would be to form our own "City of Semmes".

Our dream to become a city was realized on August 17th, 2010.
Voters went to the polls and voted in favor of incorporation by an
overwhelming 74%.
